My Sunday in photos

I woke up to breakfast in bed - my little fella is pretty cute these days.  What a wake up!

We set out on a walk to explore the city and stumbled across an old school photo booth.  I love this kind of booth MUCH more than the new digital photo booths.  The flash went off for the first photo before we even sat down so the first photo is of the boy's arm.  He was a little concerned about the liquid on the floor which smelled a lot like urine (granted, we were at the back of a train station) but I was willing to overlook this.

We weaved our way through the laneways - checking out the artworks and scummy tagging/graff.  Through Degraves Lane, Centre Place, Presgrave Place and stopped for coffee in Howey Place.  More wandering up and back Union Lane and the Causeway before walking up to the northern end of the city.

We stumbled across a walled garden around the corner from Bar Lourinha (perhaps Ridgeway lane?) but it had no signs and no entryway.  I'm so intrigued.  I've been trying to figure out what's inside.  It looks like an urban oasis*.   *I've since found out it's the courtyard of the exclusive Melbourne Club. Mystery solved.

 Gertrude street Shop-Cat.

Our wanderings took us 8km from home, along Gertrude and up Smith Streets.  We overheard (earwigging, being nosey Parkers, eaves dropping...) that the Abbotsford Convent had an open day so we were determined to make our way there. Plus we'd been meaning to go to the petting zoo there for some time.  On the way we stumbled across some old friends of the boys'.  Wow - Melbourne really is small.  We keep bumping into people we know which is strange for the big smoke!

We made it to the Convent/Children's farm on foot, and before the skies opened up.  Chris Lilley decided to check it out too, so we were amongst good company.

The petting zoo was rad and pet we did!

I was a little disturbed that I ate this guy's cousin a few weeks ago at Mamasita's.  It was my first time eating goat - which is novel for a reformed vego.

This is a picture of the strangest confluence of animals.  A goose, a duck and a cat.  All trying to occupy the same area and eyeing each other off.

Pretty Roosters.  I want one like this for home.
The gallery at the Convent was awesome and yours truely may appear in a portrait exhibition sometime next year.  The artist was there taking photos in the garden.
Yay for the Taco truck! It looked delish.  The Convent Bakery, Lentil as Anything and Kappaya Japanese soul food all looked so delectable! If only we were hungry.

We wandered around to the beats of a dj playing tunes in the garden, amongst families picnicing, and friends dancing.  It was a really sweet vibe.
Finally, our little tootsies couldn't wander any further so we spent the best $3.00 ever and bussed/trammed it home.  It was momentus as neither of us have caught a bus in Melbs before.

Home. Sweet. Home.  after a wonderfully exhausting day of exploring.
